My cat Tucker came under the care of Dr. Newkirk 9 months ago. He was emaciated and weighed only 10lbs, owing to a lack of appetite and constant diarrhea. Less than three years prior he was a healthy cat weighing 16 lbs., however, there was a steady progression of weight loss and deterioration of his health. Tests from his prior veterinary clinic could only indicate inflammation in the stomach but not confirm a diagnosis; therefore he was placed on prednisone indefinitely. The helpless feeling I experienced watching my beloved cat waste away, prompted me to get a second opinion and seek holistic medicine as a viable treatment method.
After our first visit with Dr. Newkirk we were provided with a diagnosis, which allowed us to know what specific course of treatment was needed. Tucker began treatment for lymphoma immediately and a plan was explained and implemented which didn’t involve invasive treatments and centered on holistic medicine. The competency and kindness exhibited by Dr. Newkirk and staff empowered me with new knowledge and the hope of healing for Tucker.
Today, Tucker weights a healthy 15.9 lbs., and though he is not “cured” from lymphoma he is steadily climbing the scale towards optimum health. Most importantly, his playful personality is back, his robust appetite and overall the quality of his life has improved 100%! I owe this to the expertise of Dr. Newkirk and greatly appreciate the kindness and caring shown to us by the staff at Newkirk Family Veterinarians.
